The red machine gear — surrounding an outline of the house like a rising sun — symbolizes the innovative spirit of Chester Wickwire and the Industrial Revolution. The windows in the house represent the many windows on the past that we open at the museum, revealing the stories of immigrants, strong women with broad aspirations, and children finding their place in a rapidly changing world. Visitors will feel the connections in the present that tie us to the past, like the many pieces of wire that Chester’s factory workers wove together.

The unique history within the walls tells the stories of the Wickwire family, their servants, and the factory workers who toiled in Wickwire Wire Mills Factory.
